Plants Stands - They Aren’t Just For Plants Anymore!

You can use plant stands for many decorative purposes. In fact, a nicely-made pedestal plant stand is a wonderful way to display additional items when you’ve used up the space on your mantle or shelving.

By putting either an artificial or live plant on a nice plant stand, you enhance its beauty. Silk, artificial plants can be very life like and this allows you to enjoy the benefits of plants without having to care for them as you would a living plant. For support, lift, charm and character, consider a plant stand for your artificial plant.

You’ll need to consider a few things, no matter what you’re planning to display on top of your plant stand. The stand should not detract nor compete with the beauty of the plant but should, in fact, enhance it. Your plants are of course the center of attention, but with the wide variety in plant stands today, your guests will be awed by both the plants and the pedestals they are resting upon.

One consideration is the type of plant your plant stand will support. You want the size of the stand to be in the right proportion to the size of the plant. It would be unwise to use a bulky metal base for a small, decorative plant like a cactus. On the other hand, a bulky stand would be appropriate for a large fern or heavy plant.

The color is another consideration. When displaying a beautiful flowering plant, keep the colors of the blooms in mind. Complementary colors or neutral tones should be considered when purchasing a plant stand.

Also, consider the size. The top of the plant stand must be large enough that your plant pot will fit on it. The circumference of your plant pot should not take up the whole top of the stand. This will be more aesthetically pleasing as well as stable.

Floors that are solid and level are enough to keep most plant stands standing upright. If you are displaying something large and heavy, be sure to choose a stand that will support the weight well and be appropriate for your flooring type. A lightweight pedestal will not be heavy enough to work on a very plush carpet. However, if you have a hardwood floor, this base will be perfect.

Consider using the top of your plant stand to add your own style and flair to your home. These little stands let you express your creative side in a big way.
